Some Don’ts of Internet Usage
More than anything, everyone is grateful for the magical world of the Internet and of everything that it allows you to do. No one from a few years ago would have imagined that you could actually choose to shop online. No one actually expected that you could both arrange your travels and get a rental car online, and get it cheaply with various rental cars coupon code and discounts. So much power, with just a few clicks here and there.
And yet, at the same time, no one expected that the Internet would complicate life this way, making people more vulnerable to identity theft, to online scams, to online harassment. Thus, because of these mixed results, it’s really of paramount importance to exercise care and vigilance when going online.
Things Not to Do On the Internet
There are certain things which are done online which might seem innocent, but are actually very dangerous, if you take them seriously. Hence, it’s better to avoid doing them, at all costs. Here are a few of those things which must never be done.
Don’t give out card numbers on online chatting platforms. There are a lot of instances when you’re probably expecting some money from a family member, and they ask you for your bank information. If possible, never use an online chatting platform to provide such information. It’s still safer to call them or to send them a text message without having to use the Internet.
Don’t give out your passwords to just anyone. If it is really necessary (like if it’s a matter of life and death, which is highly unlikely), remember the same rule for your bank information: do not give it out through online chatting platforms.
Don’t trust just about anything that’s sent to you, especially if it happens to come from an unknown source. This is another technique of some hackers to get into your system and destroy it. You see, that file that came from an unknown source might very well be a virus, and if you’re unsuspecting and you open it, it might already be too late.
